This festival represents the “perpetuation, preservation, and promotion of the art of hula and the Hawaiian culture through education.” The festival is considered the world's premier forum for people of all ages to display their skills and knowledge of the art of ancient and modern hula.

Turtle Independance Day
Three and four year old turtles are released in the ocean after growing up in the Honu Ponds at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows on the Kohala Coast. A welcome ceremony will kick off the event, followed by their release into the ocean. This annual celebration honors the honu and helps educate the public about the Hawaiian green sea turtle. There will be live entertainment, a 4th of July BBQ, & an educational display about green sea turtles. For more information, call 808-885-6622 or www.maunalani.com
